When to sow chilli seeds in NZ?

Chilli seeds can be sown indoors in New Zealand during late winter or early spring and planted out after the last frost in your location to ensure successful growth. Generally, the optimal time for sowing indoors is from August to October, and planting outdoors during October and November when the soil has warmed sufficiently. Seedlings will take around 6-8 weeks to be of a size for planting in the garden, so count back the weeks from your last frost and this is when you should sow your seed. Ensure chilli seedlings are planted into well-drained soil in a sunny spot to ensure fruit will ripen fully.
