Quirky corn, staff produce and picking flowers

Quirky corn, staff produce and picking flowers

Barbara
What a challenge this summer has been! Torrential rain and a destructive cyclone doing their absolute worst in many places whilst other southern areas are experiencing serious drought - too many gardeners facing their worst nightmare in their outdoor spaces. In this blog, we'd like to share a few small wins from the gardens of our staff...

For Erika, growing parsley in the garden has been fantastic! There’s something so satisfying about popping into the garden and grabbing a sprig of parsley to use in my cooking. She uses it in a range of dishes from scrambled eggs, stir-fries, smashed potatoes, herb oil or tossed fresh into a salad. Buying fresh herbs from the supermarket is always out of the question for her as it's so expensive and will only last a few days but having this in the garden means she can use it on a regular basis in many dishes. It's been the easiest thing to grow for her, seems to flourish without the need for much attention and growing it from seed means she's had a lot of bang for her buck!

Stacey has enjoyed growing her own tomatoes this summer. Even better is the opportunity to make a quick and easy salad for her lunch each day. She shares some of her images:

Tomato Indigo Pear Drops...

Same tomato used in a tasty salad with lettuces from the garden and sprouts from her kitchen bench...

And her rather cute garden helper, Hollie...

Karen has a family of five and finds sprouts an excellent way to get nutritious greens into her busy teenagers.
Once the sprouts have germinated and grown to the desired length, greening them up on her kitchen windowsill finishes them off nicely...

Before rinsing, removing from the jars and storing on paper towels in an airtight container in Karen's fridge...

YUM!!

Delwynne grows a great range of cut flowers in her garden and we are spoilt with beautiful arrangements of fresh flowers on a regular basis in our office...
We hope you take some enjoyment from these too.
