High in calcium, Vitamins A, B1 and Riboflavin, young leaves can be eaten raw in salads (older leaves need cooking) and make nutritious tea. Also useful as a poultice for stings, wounds and sores to aid healing. Seedlings start off green before developing a clump of strong purple red leaves that are very ornamental. Easy to grow.
