Melon Chinese Winter F1
Description
Popular Asian vegetable in many of their cuisines and also known as Wax Gourd or Ash Gourd due to its skin colour at maturity. The flesh is used in soups, stews, stir fries and curries while the squeezed juice is highly regarded for its health and medical properties. It's best grown on the ground over the summer months as you would a trailling pumpkin but can also be trellised. Plants prefer warm humus rich free draining soil so it's probably best not to set them out before early November to enjoy the ideal temperature range similar to that of a watermelon. Expect 3-4 fruit per vine, weighing approximately 1kg each.Matures 75 days from transplant.
