DescriptionAn ancient medicinal herb well known for its numerous health benefits. Highly regarded in Ayuvedic (Indian) medicine, it's used for reducing stress and anxiety, boosting general brain function, increasing libido in men and warding off depression. An easy to grow low sprawling perennial, the usable parts of the plant are the roots that are dried and powdered and the ripe red berries used as a substitute for rennet in cheese making. A member of the Solanaceae family, grow it like you would a Cape Gooseberry so it will need warmth to germinate in late spring.
