Melon Bitter Karela F1
DescriptionDark green rough skinned Bitter Gourd much prized in Asian cuisine and as a medicinal fruit. Quite long at 30cm and weighing 600-700 grams, the fruit have tender flesh with a mild bitter taste that absorbs the spicy flavours its cooked with. Equally, it's highly regarded when made into a drink to help regulate blood sugars for diabetics. Think tropical and don't sow seed until Labour Weekend. Transplant 2 x 12 day old seedlings every 80cm up a trellis, fence or pergola to allow the fruit to hang down. Vines grow 3-4 metres long bearing fruit 60 days after transplant.
