DescriptionLike its legume relative Alfalfa, Red Clover has a crisp texture and nutty flavour. In the 19th century, Red Clover was popular with herbalists as a blood purifier. Chinese physicians and Russian folk healers also used it to treat respiratory problems. Red Clover contains four isoflavones common in the Asian diet, thought to be the reason why Asian men have a lower incidence of prostate cancer. It is also a wonderful source of essential oils, amino acids, vitamins and minerals that relax the nervous system and settle the stomach.
