It's a striking plant, and one that keeps delivering, blooming for many weeks rather than a fleeting burst of colour.

This is a tough, easy-care perennial, well suited to gardeners who want reliable colour without a lot of ongoing maintenance. It also happens to be a superb cut flower, so those same golden blooms that light up the border can just as easily be brought indoors for a vase. Bees and butterflies find it absolutely irresistible, making it a valuable addition if you're gardening with pollinators in mind.

Some plants may flower in their first year, giving you an early taste of the display to come, though heleniums generally build into their full glory over subsequent seasons.

Growing Helenium Helena Gold

Sow from August through to October at a germination temperature of 15-20°C, with seedlings appearing in 14-21 days.
