Turnip Milan Red Top
- Botanical Name: Brassica rapa glabra
Turnips are a long forgotten and neglected vegetable, but picked young, cooked tender and served steamed or sautéed, they add a nice touch to summer soups or salads and are experiencing a comeback in gourmet cooking. The quick growing round roots are pure white below the soil line and vivid red above. Roots grow 10-12.5cm across, but best when 5-7cm across. For baby vegetables pick at only 2.5-3.5cm and include foliage. (50 days)
