Highly regarded red round beetroot that is easy to harvest with an excellent rich flavour. As most of the root forms above the ground, the mature beet can be pulled rather than dug in 50-60 days. Named after a Boston market gardener, Josiah Crosby, but erroneously gaining the Egyptian title when it is more likely to have been a European 18th century selection. Best grown in spring and summer avoiding autumn sowing as the exposed mature beetroot does not enjoy hard frosts.
