Beetroot Chioggia Red/White
- Botanical Name: Beta vulgaris var crassa
This amazing variety is a sweet round Beet with a smooth light red skin outside while the inside has concentric rings of red and white flesh with fluctuations in temperature enhancing these zones of colour. Little known, this Beet comes from the coastal region of the Adriatic near Chioggia in Italy. Grow like ordinary Beet but use at the 6cm stage. Pickle and slice thinly, or even use raw. Great for spring and autumn.
