Buckwheat

• Botanical Name: Fagopyrum esculentum

The seeds of Buckwheat are highly nutritious and a valued grain wheat which can be ground into flour, used for sprouting, as a green manure or cover crop. Popular with early settlers and cowboys in the USA for pancakes. Grows with the shaped leaves and fragrant white flowers in clusters, which are popular with bees because of their long flowering season. Sow thinly direct in position chosen for the plants to grow.
