• Botanical Name: Citrullus lanatus

Very vigorous, quick maturing, sweet juicy and crisp watermelon, ideal for short season growers. The blocky oblong fruit weighing 4-5kg have a deep red flesh that is very sweet and a thick skin that gives it transport and keeping qualities. For best results, grow watermelons in black polythene rows to keep soil temperatures up and weeds down. Rapid Red thrives in mulch rich humus and matures in 85 days from sowing.
