Kiwano Horned Melon

Botanical Name: Cucumis metuliferus

Also called African Horned Cucumber or Jelly Melon, the grapefruit size oval melon with horn like spines has a yellow orange skin with lime green jelly-like flesh. A refreshing fruit with tastes of banana, cucumber and lemon. With horned spines on the fruit and a vine with fine spiny hairs, it is best handled wearing gloves. Prolific producer with up to 20 fruit per vine.
