Purslane Red and Gold
- Botanical Name: Portulaca oleracea sativa
Purslane is a succulent summer salad plant very popular in European summer salads and for garnishing. This is a blend of red and gold leaf types with orange stems that have a crisp mild taste. It can be picked to within 5cm of the base with new stems and leaves re-growing all summer. Sensitive to frost so direct sow after the last spring frost 1cm apart and thin to best plants 10cm apart.
