Asparagus Pea
- Botanical Name: Tetragonolobus purpureus
A fast growing plant that grows like clover and will smother weeds. It produces numerous red Pea-like flowers that are highly decorative. Soon after blooming the flowers produce winged pods that are delicious to eat. Steamed and served with a knob of butter they are said by gourmets to combine the flavour of both Peas and Asparagus. Harvest pods when approximately 3cm long. (80 days)
