Lily Pandora's Box
- Botanical Name: Lilium ssp
Trumpets, Aurelians, Speciosums, Orientals, Henryiis and more - many of them highly perfumed in a rainbow of colours. Such a mixture of species will give you lilies flowering from early through to late summer. Ideal for the back of the border, large pots and tubs, enhancing woodland and, of course, for cutting. For best germination results, sow seed shallow in good quality potting mix barely covering it. First seeds will germinate in 4-6 weeks whilst some may not appear to be doing anything for months. In fact, these ones may already be forming a bulb before sending up a leaf. Leave your tray undisturbed for several months before planting out clumps of the potting mix into pots or the garden. Protect against slugs, aphids, seedlings drying out and visitors with secateurs! Consult gardening books for additional information. Always provide lily bulbs with sharp drainage to the point of fanaticism and lots of well composted mulch to keep the bulbs cool and well fed. Divide bulbs in autumn every 3-4 years.
Perennial; 15-25 degrees; 28-270 days; 100-150cm height; 15cm apart; Full Sun; 1.2.3; 100 seeds; Border Plant; Cut Flower.
